Hello everyone, and welcome to the final Toontown Offline blog post of 2018.
This year has been quite a year of change and development for all of us on the team. We've worked hard on a lot of content behind the scenes, all the while having undergone both public and private changes. In today's post, we'll be looking back at some of the things we've been working on- both publicly and privately! Let's first talk about the updates we've released this year...
In 2018 we released seven smaller updates that add some small tweaks and quality-of-life features to the game. It's been almost six months since the last update, but we assure you that this large gap will soon be worth it. Our Lead Developer, JawhnL5, recently finished adding Estates and Doodles to our new v126.96.36.199 source. That means only Toon Parties and a sprinkling of other TTO and TTOffline features have yet to be added. We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of this massive overhaul. As winter break begins for many of us, the team will be working hard on both v188.8.131.52 and the eventual release of Operation: Seek Out Scrooge.
Speaking of SOS, I think I should give it a bit of love in today's post. Sometimes it may seem like there isn't much to say about it, but we lean towards secrecy for a good reason. If we were to reveal all of our progress by teasing every new zone, it would unfortunately ruin the element of surprise. We have a lot of exciting things in Seek Out Scrooge that are a first for Toontown as a whole, and we want all of you to experience them in the final product when released. There is also the concern of teasing so much that we run out of new things to tease! Luckily, that hasn't happened to us due to our conservative nature with teasing. With this in mind, it was difficult to come up with a thumbnail for last week's post. If you have kept track of all our SOS teasers so far, you may notice this is a different angle of a zone we have already teased. There are many new areas and scenes we would like to show, but you will have to wait to see some of them as we get closer to the eventual release of this update. That being said, I would like to talk about some more... vague elements of our SOS progress. These are a few exciting tidbits about the development of SOS, and make of these what you will:
- Roughly 25,000 lines of code have been written
- Roughly 10-15 new songs have been exclusively composed
- Roughly 10 new zones have been modeled
- A brand new Boss Battle has almost concluded development
With that, I bid you all farewell until next year. On behalf of the entire Toontown Offline Team,
...and in general...
Happy Holidays! And have a good one all!
